Karnataka is a state in south western region of India. It is the 7 th biggest, 8 th
most populous, and 16 th most literate state of the 29 states of the
democratic Republic of India. It is ranked 5 th in the country in tax revenue and 7 th
in the country in GDP. Karnataka is bordered by the Arabian Sea and Laccadive
Sea to the west, Goa to the northwest, Maharashtra to the north, Telangana to the
northeast, Andhra Pradesh to the east, Tamil Nadu to the southeast,
and Kerala to the southwest.
Kannada is the official language of Karnataka state; it is the native language of approximately 65% of Karnataka's population.
